Modern Studies Department Overview

The name Modern Studies does not do justice to the complexity and breadth of the subject. It manages to blend the study of constitutional government with social issues such as class, gender and race. In doing this Modern Studies examines a range of local, national and international themes. Skills are a key part of the subject with its study promoting enquiry, critical thinking, decision making and social research. The subject aims to nuture informed, active citizens with tolerant atttiudes and is a popular entry requirement for university courses such as law.
